Here is what I think. I can't take your poll because there is no such thing as a good month to hunt pigs. That said, the best time to hunt pigs (IMO) is during cooler wheather, such as late fall, winter, and yearly spring. All the months that fall in between are good.

I like to hunt them in the cooler months. During the hot months they tend to bed down quick and you have bust some think brush to get them moving.

The only time that I would even consider doing any hog hunting would be between the months of January 1st and December 31st.

This is a hard question to answer. I like all of the answers and I knew some one would say all year. I was just trying to find a month or period to get out and hunt them due to weather conditions or other coinsiding seasons. I have hunted in Dec, March, june and have been successfull but was trying to focus on great times to hunt. Late Spring April/May sucked in California when we went, it was a little hot and pigs were still in the foothills eating the wild onions and barley. Had to go in after them. We managed 2 pigs but it was tough. June in Texas is hot and sticky. So just wanted to hear what ya'll had to say.

During a overcast, drizzly day.....or rainy day. Head out while it rains....even in a downpour....and by the time you get there it quits....if it doesn't.....you get wet and kill a hog.

In Texas, when it starts raining, it could mean flooding, swollen creeks/rivers so I have experienced "no hog show up" when it starts raining in Houston. It is like a tropical downpour. It could be raining for days. I have experienced the best hog hunting in Houston during the period between June to Oct., when it is oppresively hot & muggy. The pigs come out in the cooler night temperatures & night hunting is a stand out. Just my 2c's of course. larrysogla.

Well, I am no expert, but I have killed a few hogs and I research the hell out of anything I usually do before I do it and then I find even after all that preperation, there are too many variables to make such a final statement that this month is better then that month. In my opinion the answer is...it varies. There are too many variables to say this month is best, or that month is best. For example, in certain parts of Califorinia, the best could be equated to the easiest. Like when the barley is harvested and they will be easy to come upon and require very little stalking. Also, you will likely find big hogs amongst those feeding on the grain. Or, you could say January, or even any winter month. It is easy to find sign then. Rooting is obvious as you see the disturbed ground much easier from a distance and can gauge when a herd of hogs was last there. You can also see tracks easier in mud and distinguish the big lone boar from the wet sow with piglets and the herd of smaller hogs. Or you can say fall. With acorns falling and easy pickings for the hogs to find them. My point is just about anytime of the year offers some advantage over another month. So it really can vary and some months you may have to "hunt" differently then other months to achieve a kill. It may be easier to kill for example a meat pig in the winter then a huge ole boar. Luck being the exception. Or...you may see the fresh signs of a huge ole boar in the dead of winter in wet mud where he possibly passed by within the last hour or so and you may be able to stalk him. Big emphasis on maybe. I say there are too many variables to answer this question. I also say it depends on what you want to kill and what you consider hunting, rather then waiting for game to show up to feed or drink and then just kill what presents itself. I have seen 300# men who can't walk worth crap kill nice hogs simply by waiting near the grain fields in the summer. Or a water hole where they have to drink twice a day. I have seen those fit enough to really hunt stalk pigs when others would have given up in the wet months and bring back a trophy. So, in summary I would have to agree with the guy that said between the months of Jan. and Dec. Hunting is so subjective don't you know. Just my two cents.
