Where can I go for target shooting?

Where can I find a place to just shoot rifle and shotgun. A deasert or something. Is there some kind of map I can get? I live in LA. Not looking for a formal range. Thanks

The closest place to shoot would be at the San Gabriel Valley Gun Club in Duarte. It only cost $10 to shoot all day. If you wanted to go out in the desert the Lyttle Creek area which is on the back side of Big Bear would be a good area. You need to go out the I 15 near Victorville to get there. I don't know if detailed maps showing the dirt roads are available.

If you dont mind a drive, take the 15 north past Victoville about 15 miles, untill you see an exit called Hodge Road. Take that exit and make a left (west) and just drive out into the desert. It is a legal place to shoot, and it is NOT a formal range.

Just make sure that you are 1000 feet from the transmission tower and cinder block building at Hodge Road. You can't miss it - it's right on top of the hill where people used to shoot. Just drive in further on the dirt roads and make sure you have a good backstop. And do us all a favor - don't leave a bunch of junk there. (Not saying you would do that, of course.)
