Where to go?

Anybody know of some BLM or NF or whatever within an hour or two of South Orange County or North San Diego (where we live), where we can do some informal plinking with rifles and large handguns and maybe an AR? Not looking for a formal range

We shoot in Jacumba, It is about 45 mins east of San Diego on Hwy. 8 right before you head down the grade to the Imperial Valley. We have been shooting on both sides of 8, just take the Jacumba exit, Follow the road south past the gas stations to Old Hwy 80 and head east (left). You'll see many turn off's where people have been shooting. Watch out for the border patrol, They are nice guys and with the border fence being just a couple hundred yards away they (the BP) are everywhere.

I have never been hasseled here by anyone...
