Where, if anywhere, in L. A. County can I find wild boars? I live in Lancaster, and I've been scouting in Lake Hughes? Lake Elizabeth, since a friend of mine lives up there, and told me there are pigs up there.
SW, there have been rumors that a few pigs have made it to the west side of the I-5 in Los Padres National Forest and even south of Tejon Ranch around the 138 in Angeles National Forest. I have yet to see any in these areas. The success rate for public land statewide is five percent. Not very good odds.
In your e-mail you said you plan to get a Switchback XT in the near future. I would use the bow you have and use the money for a hunt at Tejon or some other private hunting outfit if you really want a boar.
If you just want to get out and have fun scouting that's understandable too. I'd be willing to get out and find some hogs on public land with ya, but it will be a lot of time, miles and money lookin' for 'em. If you want to find 'em on public land, check the DFG website and BLM for public land farther north that usually has transient hogs here and there. Check the hog hunting forum too.
