Hi all,

I recently moved to the DFW area and I am looking for a place to hunt hogs. Unfortunatly I found that most places are leased. I'm not a rich man so I started looking into wma's. Well all I can find is for archery or muzzle loaders. most places won't accept centerfires.

Can someone recomend a place?

Thx

They are all over the piney woods to the east of you. And they inhabit most of the Trinity river drainage. Unfortunately most of the land is private. I know there is a good population near Athens. A few weekends knocking on doors might be in order.

Rusk, caddo, pat massey, white oak and Cooper WMA has an ok population and will allow rifle, if I remember correctly. Most WMA's that have a good bit of hogs are within a 2 hr drive. Some farmers out east will also let you but you must explain to them that you want to use a rifle. Alot of farmers don't want rifles on the property due to cattle being shot in the past. Also there are several ranches around the area (within a 2 hr drive) that will let you take a hog for $75 to $100 a day.
