Was thinking today about all Doc's and Nick's great stories about hunting hogs and wild cattle in lush tropical gardens. I went to you tube and watched the cattle hunt again.....good stuff. Hope both of you are doing well and catching lot's of Tuna.
Ol' Doc had to go to the mainland for his annual physical, which includes a major evaluation of my ticker. Everything came out OK. On the way back, at Orange County [John Wayne] Airport, I bent over to lift up a heavy duffle bag and felt a sharp burn in my lower back, something I am very familiar with. I broke my back in a motorcycle accident almost 30 years ago and still have ligament problems. I made it home but the next morning, here in Hawaii, I couldn't move. Now it's 3 days later and I'm a lot better. Will go hunting next week.
Nic moved back to Kauai or Maui or somewhere, so I doubt if I'll see much of him. My wife and I are moving up the mountain a ways and I was up there today. Right beyond the lava rock wall at the back of our property is wilderness, a sometimes cattle ranch. I was trimming palm trees this afternoon and peeked over and there are rootings and pig tracks everywhere. Quite a few lava rocks have been knocked down on the far side, probably by boars trying to get over to our lush landscaping. The wall is only 36 inches high and consists of lava rocks piled loosely on top of one another so I'm sure the pigs will be visiting soon. Should be fun.
I also saw several gray francolin and two hen turkeys in our backyard today. A neighbor told me that pigs are running all over the community.
Well I'm really glad your ok now...had not seen any post's for awhile and got kinda worried. I imagine sitting in a cramped airline seat for 5 hours after hurting your back was no picnic either.
Your student and his good friend also came over to the mainland to visit. My kids are trying to show them a good time. Thursday they went to my son's graduation. On Friday we took the 3 boy's to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Tonight my daughter is taking them out to see a movie. On Sunday my son is having a graduation bon fire party at the beach and all Steven's old friends here in Ca will be there. I think they are all having a real nice vacation so far. If you like I will tell them you said hello...
You take care of yourself, let those palm trees sit for now. We need you healthy so you can go hunting and post us tales of your island adventures.
When your fully healed you can knock a little bigger hole in your lava wall and like the old song by the Cars goes, "let the good times roll".
