Who is hunting Elk in Colorado this Fall and where are you going to be hunting ?
I put in for a 1st season GMU 21 Bull Tag. I'll be hunting just south of the town of Rangely. I will be on private land where they arent hunted as hard, and when the public land hunters hit the hills I'll be waiting for them

Given my preference points, I should pull tags for the following:

Bear, Sept 2-30, Unit 85, 83, 133, 134 & 851 (Trinidad/Walsenburg area)
Buck antelope, Oct 4-10, Unit 104 (Franktown/Elizabeth)
Cow elk, Unit 4 & 441, Nov 1-7 (NE of Craig)
Buck deer, Unit 4, 214 & 441 (NE of Craig)

Drew a cow and deer last year, so zero points for them, but in Unit 4 it shouldn't matter. Got a doe just 1/4 mile north of Craig's city limits last year with my bumper.

If all goes right, I'll be in Unit 62 this October. I don't know one unit from the next right now, but considering I got a guided hunt for $20 (won a raffle), I won't be too picky.

Put in for a cow license for GMU 24 South of Craig. First gun season October 18-26. Went last year, my first time, learned alot about all the work you do packing into make camp. Came up empty on Elk though (2nd gun season).

I put in for the muzzleloader season and hope to get drawn.

I personally don't know the area that well, but my brother lives
there and I will most likely be on unit 35 or 46.

Keepin the fingers crossed.

Howdy All,

This year will be my second time hunting in Colorado, we will be hunting 55 in the Gunnison National Forest(second season), my buddies I go with have been going for 11 years. There is nothing quite like it, and I can't wait to be back again this year. Good Luck to you all!

To Co hunter
I was joking I know i will get my elk tag but the deer is what may hold up the plans I also have 3 preference points on deer but dont know if thats enough. sad since i have been hunting gmu 21/22 since 83' continuously
for deer or elk and it is getting harder every year to draw.
GOOD HUNTING to you my friend
