Hello Everybody,
I come to California every year to visit my inlaws in San Fransisco, and I like to take a hunting trip while i am there.
I have normally just hunted waterfowl around Willows.
I am looking to do a Wild boar hunt for a trophy for the wall.
Spot and Stalk or Dogs etc. is good with me, while using a gun.(not a bowhunter)
I would like to stay within 3-4 hours of San Fransisco, but of course the closer the better.
I also perfer not to camp, but have lodging or a hotel to stay in.
Thanks in advance,
W.

Welcome aboard, Woodsie.

Not sure when you're going to be here, but there are several great hunts out of the Paso Robles/King City area. You'll see several of them discussed here in this forum. Use your Search Function and look up the following:

Bryson Resort (Deedy)
Tom Willoughby
Mustang Guide Service
RNJ Wild Hog Hunts
Native Hunt

There are many more that I haven't listed (because I can't think of them).

I agree with Speck all of those are great outfitters by what I have read and some personal experiences. If you are normally duck hunting when you come out I would guess that you are out here late October/Novemberish? That is still dear season and may be a little tougher hunting do to high traffic in the mountians depending on the area, but go with one of the guides listed above and you should do alright. Glad to have you here and best of luck!

No way around it, IT WILL BE COLD! Like we said before, hook up with one of the guides that post on here and that will give your best chance for success. Hunts can book up early so talk to them as early as possible to ensure that you will be able to hunt when you come out. One of the worst things you can do is wait until the last minute. Also get some practice in with nonlead ammo, as most areas that will have hogs will be in a California Condor zone and you will not be able to use any ammo that contains lead. Best of luck Woodsie, let us know who you go with!

Our cold is not what most of the country considers cold. Brisk, maybe chilly but not cold.
Where are you from Woodsie ?
