Well guys, not the outcome I expected. Only about a dozen hogs seen all weekend with 2 shots fired, both misses. No hogs taken on this trip, hogs are there just not out feeding in the open like the past. They must be tucked away in the dark timber, not sure.

Thanks for the report Mel , I hear ya hog hunting is a crap shoot sometimes, especially when u have limited time and 22,000 acres to cover, Thats a challenge for sure. Hope u had a great time with everyone, I miss the campfire stories for sure, sometimes there better then the hunt!....tra

Spent the day at my lease that isn't too far from where you were hunting. Saw some BUCKS that got away but not one pig. You are not alone in your frustration - last weekend we were being picky and passed; go figure.
Next time,
J

Went on a guided pig hunt west of Arbuckle and never saw a hog. Saw some sign but no hogs. Too much feed I think for them to move much and the ranch we were on had a lot of water.

Yeah right now the ranch is covered with acorns. I think they tucked away in the thick draws with water and feed, no need to move until their feed runs out. I have never really seen this much acorns in the past, definitely unexpected.

I've never had such a trophy buck problem before. Every time something big jumped out of the thick it was a trophy black tail

Hopefully this hunt doesn't discourage people from going next year. Not sure what happened, but sounds like similar results from other people on other properties. This was definitely out of the norm.
