Just swapped a Marlin 1894 357 mag for a 1951 vintage Win 70 in 30-06. The factory stock is almost perfect condition but is way too long for my wife or daughter. I have a chance to pick up one that has been shortened and recoil pad added for cheap but it is off of a pre 64 300 win mag but not sure the barrel channel will fit. This way I can save the original and not hurt the value as a collectable. The new one has not been bedded so thats not an issue, does anyone know if the different pre 64 caliber stocks are interchangable?

You say your rifle is of 1951 vintage which is pre 64.You state the other stock is off a pre 64 300win mag.If so,the stock should fit.If you meant to say the other stock was a post 64 then that's a different story. They will not interchange, the receivers are of different lengths.

Thanks Ray, they are both pre 64, I just wasn't sure if the reciever and barrel cuts were were the same on the 300 as on the 06.
