World's largest muzzleloader shoot this weekend on "Kentucky Afield" TV

9/23/08

Frankfort, Kentucky - We travel to Indiana to see black powder and the bluegrass connection at the world's largest muzzleloader shoot this weekend, September 27 and 28, on "Kentucky Afield" television.

Sponsored by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, the Indiana town of Friendship welcomes pioneer weapons enthusiasts by the thousands. Among them is our own "Kentucky Afield" Host Tim Farmer. Surrounded by period attire, marksmen, traders and craftsmen who yearn for yesteryear, it's easy to see the role that the Kentucky long rifle played in the settlement of a nation.

Elsewhere, Farmer discovers his freezer is fresh out of meat. Good thing it's deer season. On a private farm in Franklin County, he grabs his bow and takes advantage of the early season offerings.

"Kentucky Afield" is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation. The program airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern /7:30 p.m. Central and is repeated Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central on KET 1.
