Were to start. I got a PM from a member a week or two ago to give him my phone number so I did and did not hear anything. Then this week, I got a call saying do you want to go on a pig hunt near <st1:city w:st=" border=" 0="" alt=""><st1

lace></st1:city> on a private ranch. I said hella yes!!! Now a little back drop. I have been hunting public land for a while with no luck and can’t afford a private hunt so this was a chance of a life time. I meet the member off the freeway (I will let him post his user name if he wants) and right from the get go he is one of those good old boys that are hard to find this day in age. He said follow me up there. I drove up there and let me tell you this is GODS COUNTRY, I mean lush green hills, vineyards, acorns all over the ground, and rooting every where ( it looked like a tractor tore up the hill sides) I have never seen anything like it. My heart was beating the whole drive to the ranch.<o

We got to the ranch and meet his good friend up there. His buddy is just as cool as he is. I mean I can’t explain how friendly and hospitable they were to a total stranger. We only had a few hrs of light so we split up I went with my friend, and his buddy went out on his own. This is how good a guy he is, he did not even bring his bow because he wanted me to harvest a hog now that’s a great guy. This place is steep and not for the faint of heart but within 10 minutes I was looking and out popped a deer, man I was excited. We kept going to a place where he has seen lots of hogs. We waited about 30min and heard a gun shot. He called his buddy on the radio and he took a shot at a hog. I guess he was in some thick nasty stuff and could not get a clean shot as the pig flew by. <o

We then proceeded to the top of this ridge that looks over a huge draw and I mean the rooting at the bottom was like something out of my dreams, with a good game trail that leads to if from the thick bedding below. I was instructed to wait as he has taken pigs there in the past. It was about 1hr before dark. About 30minutes in I head squeals and fighting (my heart was going 100miles an hour). My buddy walked over 15min later and I told him what I heard about 500yards away and right on queue they made a whole bunch of noise again. We both looked at each other and smiled like kids on Christmas morning We heard them a few more times but they did not come out and it got dark. We headed back to camp.<o

I was planning on going home and I was totally happy and grateful for just the opportunity to even try and harvest game on a beautiful piece of property then my buddy asked me if I would like to stay, I said NO WAY, NEVER haha J/K ( I got all you readers didn’t I hehe). This was a once in a life time opportunity so I said I would love to!!! I do not like to be a mooch and not contribute with food, beers, ect. But they both insisted that what’s theirs is mine. I mean you just don’t find guys like this anymore 100% class act guys and funny as hell. We got a small fire going, and told some stories as we drank some beers, I mean life does not get any better We then ate some deer back straps, salad, and beans! About 22:00 we all headed off to bed as the rain started to come down hard. <o

It rained all night long, and when we got up there was 1in of rain in the coffee cup. It was super fogy like 30-50foot visibility with light misty/rain. I was not going to pass this opportunity up so I got up and we all got a game plan on what areas we were going to hunt. I headed with my buddy and we hiked and hiked and hiked in the rain. I thought this guy was part mt. goat..... We hunted for a few hours with no luck but man saw plenty of sign everywhere, and got a great work out in some beautiful country. We also got to see a lot more of the property but he had to go because of prior family obligations. I was totally fine with that and did not want to over stay my welcome. So we all packed up and headed out of there. All in all it was one of the best hunting trips ever. even though I did not harvest anything, I got to spend time with great people on a great ranch. I just want to say thanks sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for allowing me to go, it was a dream come true and I will never forget the opportunity.<o
