I just did an early gift exchange with the parents and got a cannon rebel xt. Anyone got any lens recomendations? I want to get a decent telephoto (nothing monsterous just good), a good macro, and an all around lens.

Anyone have any experience with Tameron lenses? The woman at the camera shop was trying to get my wife to get a 18 - 200 lense but she didnt because she didnt know what I would want (ive got her trained well).

Any input or problems anyone has had would be appretiated.

Get the biggest best lens you can afford... after a little while you will think it doesn't have enough reach. You might want to consider the Canon 300mm f/4L IS USM (what I have) or the Canon 400mm f/5.6L USM (what I probably would have bought knowing a little more now), both lenses are in the $1,100 to $1,400 price range. I met a guy who was using the Sigma Zoom Normal-Telephoto 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens, it looked like a nice piece of glass. You can find the Sigma for under $1,000, I'm not sure if you can take macro's with it.

Congrats on the camera!

Ive never had any experience with Tamron. Your budget will be the biggest factor in what you can get.
I purchased a used Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS for around $330. I love and hate this lens at the same time. I have to love it because it's the only long lens option I have for wildlife, and I can't afford anything better at this point in time. But I hate it cause it is inferior to many of the nicer pieces of glass out there. This lens struggles to find focus, is slow in day light and slower in low light, and is on the short end when trying to photograph wildlife. But when its the only thing I have, one cant complain too much.
That being said though, get the best lens that you can afford and shoot it at the best of its/your ability.

Well after reading every review I could find I settled on a lens. Tamaron AF 70-300 1:4-5.6 telemacro. It was only 200 bills. I figure I will probably be dropping a bunch of money on a reall (ie. 300+ telephoto lens) and I will also be getting a macro lens. but this should cover whats left. It gets a little fuzzie on the high end and can search a little in low light but for 200 bills i think its great. Sample photos are in the best of thread.

Depends on budget and what you want it for....my uncle just got the Rebel XTi with a Canon 100-400mm zoom lens for taking pics of wildlife (mainly deer) and that thing is awesome! But the lens itself is aroun $1600. I'm startin' to put away some money for it now...maybe I can afford it in a few years.
