Youth killed more than 7,500 deer

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Young hunters killed 7,580 deer during the state’s second youth firearms season, the state Conservation Department said Monday.
The two-day hunt that began Saturday and ended Sunday was open only to people age 15 and younger.
The fall deer firearms season for adults runs Nov. 16-26.
This year’s total topped last year’s inaugural season by 1,303 deer. There were no reports of any accidents involving young hunters.
Callaway County led the state’s youth hunting season with 191 deer killed while Pike County had 168 killed with Osage County had 162 killed.
Last year, Osage County led the state with 174 deer killed.
