Posted by Hog on another forum. Anyone have any info to corroborate this?

I recently went to the Bass Pro Shop Located on I10 near Katy, Texas. When I went into the mens restroom, low and behold, one whole wall was a picture. I would say the picture was 4' x 8' in size. The caption said it was the world record WILD hog.

Here is the information that Bass Pro supplied me with by email.

World Record

"It is known as "Big Hawg"and was killed in Mongolia on 2/13/99. It was a Russin Black Boar that weighed 1,164 lbs.

Has anyone else seen this in there or in another bass pro shop and better yet, does anyone have a web site that might show this picture? I cant remember the hunters name.

They sent me a digital picture of the hog.

I saw that Picture at two of the Bass Pro outlets, in Katy and Dallas Tx.  It was a pretty scary sight when you look up from the urinal.

It kind of looks like one of those pictures where you hold the little 8" trout close to the camera and stand way back to make it look like a monster steelhead.  If that is a the true size of that hog then I doubt that it is wild.

Hell from the way the mouth is sitting.. it looks like a small hippo with those tusk like that.  WOW..  its probably a good thing they put it in front of the urinal.

:flush:

Hell now that i think about it.. at 1164lbs.. it wouldnt be a small hippo.. it still huge..

Hey Bohunter, I'm with you!  What a wimp!  He not only used a rifle, but according to the inscription on the photo, he apparently shot it from the back of a deuce and a half...

So where are our knife hunters now?  :rofl

Ya that is a whopper of a hog , I have never had the luck to have my dogs run one that big , but it would be a wall hanger if they did , might need more dogs then i own to hold that thing, and for sure more then just me to flip him , but i wouldnt hesitate for a second running my bowie right thru his heart, may have to get a longer knife tho for him....lol

My Hunting buddy in Plano texas sent me the following:

Michael,
This pic is also in the men's restroom in BPS in Grapevine, Texas. The caption underneath the pic also states that the hunter, can't remember his name, shot this bad boy from the "deuce and a half" military truck in the background.

I THINK the hunter was the founder of Bass Pro Shops...something in the caption that I can't quite remember.
