I shot this warthog in africa last month. I thought you might like to see a big tooth hog.

Nice hog. Is the wife going to let that thing go on the wall? LOL. Just out of curiosity, what does a hunt in Africa go for (ballpark) and how difficult is it to get the permits, guns shipped in etc.

Metdawg44 Hunts are not to bad if you can contain yourself. Hunts go for $200-$1200 a day plus trophy fees. Trophy fees are $1-$30,000. Warthogs are $350 a pice for trophy and about $200-$300 a day rate. Most of the smaller antelope are around $400-$600. Air tickets are about $2000
Some animals have special permits you must get a year or more in advance. Most of the common plains game has some sort of quata on it and can be taken at any time.

Just a side note the trophy fee only applies to trophy animals you want to take home. If you are willing to shoot nontrophy and cull animals and not take them home you can get them alot cheeper sometimes in South Africa for only the daily rate. And if you shoot a animals that you rally like to take home all you do is pay the normal trophy fee and ship it home.

If you have all of your paper work in order it is only a little hassel to travel and import guns, but it is very easy for the most part.

Metdawg44 Email me if you want more info!

Yes I went with my dad and he shot most of the big trophies but I still shot a few. I will post more pics on the africa forum in a few days, so If you want to see more pics look there.

And yes he is comming home.

You know, I was just thinking about this, Tom.

You and Chopper are the only people I "know" who will pack up and travel all the way from California to Africa and shoot a danged pig!

I shot it at about 100+ yards with a 416 remington mag. That happened to be the gun in the hand at the time. You never knew when you would stumble onto some Elephants or Buffalo.
