Got a call from the neighbor this morning with wishes of a Merry Christams and to tell me his 13 year old daughter shot the potential state record a couple days ago. Seems the artical I've attached is a bit misleading as the taxidermists "Zellar" had little to do with her getting the elk, somehow he got his name put front and center of the whole ordeal. Seems the guide they hired got wind of the bull and went to the farmer asking if Cortney could hunt there. The farmer had the guy call Craig from his phone and tell them to get down there right away. The farmer put them up for the night, fed them, and showed them where to hunt the next morning. Sounds like the only thing this Zellar chracter did was piss off the farmer by trying to get him to sell the 5x5 this bull was running with. This young lady is quite the hunter with a couple bucks and a bear to her credit, oh ya and she is the youngest person to get a bull elk in Michigan..Congrats Cortney

upperEA,

Great story and congrats to your neighbor, that is awesome. Just fyi, there is no mention of Zeller, or any taxidermist, in the link you provided, as least not that I read.

Thanks for saying something Jaehunt. I pulled up the link and they have changed the entire story from what was originally written. I know Courtney's mom called the paper and gave the writer an ear full about not giving credit where it was due, not sure where the screw up started but it seems they fixed it.

That's very cool! Congrats to the young lady!

Looks like she's well over the state record, even after drying, and way, way past the state's "Youth record".

Here's a few pics of the young lady and her bull, and a pretty proud dad.

Nice pics Tom, did she take that Bull down near where you live or further up north? Did you ever call my cousin Brian up in Ishpeming to talk to him about some of those Whitetail "Swampers" he sees when running his trapline?
