Bought 17 aguila when it first came out, you know the green boxes.
Now that the mechanics are out of the way and the rifle is shooting reliably.
I am settling down to groups, I am getting lots of flyers.

The hardware: Ruger 10/22, KIDD trigger group, HighStandard 20" .920 barrel
Revival industries Yukon stock, forend modified to lay flat on adjustable rest.
I use the same stock with a whistle pig .22 barrel and get consistent groups
using wolf mt ammo.

Was there a problem with the first batch of aguila 17, I would list the lot number
but can't read it.

Anyone else encounter flyers with this ammo?

Thanks

Svan: I notice that in the 10/22 particularly, there were fliers I couldn't account for in that first run. (4 in, 1 out or three in, two out) I have guessed it was due to an inconsistent crimp because the fliers are not as pronounced in the bolt actions. I have shot 10/22 barrels that exhibit almost no fliers with the same ammo so it may be mechanical to aome extent. Try not cleaning the barrel and lubing the action sparingly. It helped with mine. The second run is far superior. Break in your barrel on this stuff and look for the second batch. It will be in the new silver box, I believe. ~AMMOe

I was kinda glad to see somebody else had flyers too! On the preliminary AR-15 setup I have I used a different barrel than I have now and, at 50 yards, it would shoot 2 or 3 shots either just about on top of one another or nice little cloverleaf patterns and then a wild-a$$ flyer! I just figured it's a prototype setup and I'd have to accept the way this shot. The newer setup is much tighter but due to all the hurricanes in Florida the past few weeks I've not had a chance to try the new setup. All my .17 Aguila is the green box stuff. I have to keep an eye out for the newer stuff.

I am getting flyers in a bolt gun too. And the Aguila won't feed without modifying the magazine. Don't have the same problems with an identical gun chambered for HM2.

I am impressed with the new aguila 17.

Check this out, its 10 shots at 70 yards benched.
