Friend sent me this picture. Supposedly it was taken in Louisiana - 1800 lbs. ? Sounds to good to be true. What do you think ? Is it possible ? Has anyone seen this picture floating around the internet before ? Photo shopped ??

Wow, umm... i dont know what to think anymore about these "Giant" hogs! Its a shame people try to make something look like what its not. The pics look real, you can tell they are sitting pretty far behind the hog, but I dont know??? still looks like a BIG hog to me!?!?

That last pic looks like something from Jib-Jab.

Bogus and poor quality photoshop.

The shot is from Turkey, not LA. No claim from the source as to size. I don't think they were done primarily in photoshop. - it's a matter of perspective. The hog is very close and the people are further away than you would think.

In addition, even a beginning like me can see that the hog in question is a pure is nearly pure, or nearly pure, European wild boar. To get to even half that weight the hog would have to be primarily domestic in origin. It would have to have access to a great deal of food as well.

Here is the site of the outfitter.

The shots were swiped from this page:

I'd say 250 to 275lbs. I don't know what people get out of sitting 15 feet behind the animal just to make it look bigger. It just makes it look fake to me. It's a damn fine boar hog. No need to fake anything. From the looks of it's hooves it grew up in a pen and liked to rub the pen on it's right side.

I have taken loads of "Hero Shots" in the field. I have been a professional guide for all most 20 years.
The telltales of a fake are obvious: No gun in the foreground, this offers no size comparison to the weapon.
The hunters in the background have no contact with the hog. A hand on the hogs back or head would offer a size comparison with the hunter. With the hunters, say 3 feet back from the hog and a wide angle lens I can make a 130 pound hog look like a monster. You can, by using these tricks, make the hogs nose look bigger than the wheel on your truck! Ask yourself this, "Have you ever seen a hog at the fair, a place where they show the largest hogs science can produce, weigh more than 1100 pounds?" So, how does a wild hog manage to acheive the unbeleaveable weight of 1800 pounds. The largest bull elk I have ever seen tiped the scales at 1300 pounds.

I may have on occation told a hunter his hog was close to 300 pounds when that was what he wanted to hear. But just how do you move a hog when the quarters are 400 pounds each?

I vote Bull S---.

It's from a hunting preserve in Turkey, and they are staged photos using perspective to make the hog look bigger.

This came out last fall (I believe), and while that is a big boar, it's not that unusual for that part of the world. Like the "killer grizzly" and the "giant mountain lion" photos that we've all seen... someone is taking great liberties to create urban/Internet mythology.

The leaves of the grass give it away. They are the size of the guy's head. So, not only do we have a monster hog here, it also happened to die on a pile of monster grass.

Its amaz-zing that a 1800 pound hog can be moved three times for three different pictures, so easily, uuunnnnnbelievable. If thats real, then Rosie O'Donnell is the greatest republican I've ever seen.

It is a good looking hog! But even a domestic hog will never reach 1800lbs! An 800lb domestic hog is huge.
