Headin' off to Oregon on Sept 5th. Can't wait!!!!!
<
3 weeks of hunting in the Blues near Sumpter. It doesn't get any better than that. The weather's been cooling off, the moon will be full, the bull to cow ratios are good, the gear's packed, the tag is signed, the bow is shooting mighty fine, the calls are broke in and the body is ready. I am stoked.

And with all that we're taking a 16 year old, first time Elk hunter with us. He's already shaking. Can't wait to call him up a bull!!!
<
We've decided that's our first priority. But
<
if that bull we call up happens to walk by me, real close, I'd just have to take my shot.
<

Well, I'm hoping that we all get to party after this trip.

We just went up toward the Elkhorns and warned all the wildlife about all the imigrants headed their way. They just snickered and said "NO FEAR"! I guess you'll have to convince them otherwise.

Good luck!

The odds? Well, ya just send in your money and they send yo an "Any Elk" tag. That means if it walks and looks like an Elk it dies. For archery, tags are sold over the counter. $365 for license and tags.

FTTPOW,

That young hunter has had the fever for years. I started taking him duck hunting at 11 years old and deer hunting at 12. Everytime I tell him an Elk story or show him one of the Primos Truth videos he starts to shake. He may just pass out if we call him up a bull real close.
<
I think he's ready.....I know he's ready. He's been working harder than me to get in shape and that's hard to do. He's punching holes in a 4" plate at 40 yards. Oh yeah......he's ready.

I'll be headed to Oregonia come the 10th, but only for a week, in the Cascades (Indigo/Fort Rock). Good luck to you and yours.

I'm going for the last 10 days of archery. Sure hope we get some good soaking rain. We'll find 'em in any case, but a little bad weather does wonders for improving your chances.

That was me, and I am still holding to that. There are more elk were you live, not were I live.

Rest assured you need not fear my prowess at thinning the elk population. My primary function, seemingly, is to add several hundred dollars to the state coffers annually in return for subjecting myself to the ridicule of my hunting buddies (all Oregonians btw). Last year, I managed to get pinned down by a raghorn 4-point while I had my bow resting on my foot. Broadside at 40 yards but I couldn't even move to get my weapon in proper position. No shot. Thus, until I warrant a better fate this season, my current indian name as a result of last year's miscue is "Pud-in-hand".
