I don't know if these photos were posted up anywhere yet, so I thought I'd pass them on if they haven't been. Two nice bulls all locked up.

What would YOU do if you came over a ridge and spotted two elk in a helpless situation like this? Try to untangle them (there ain't enough whiskey in the world to make me do that!)? Call Fish and Game? Saw off a tine?

Time to bust out the tactical Dremel tool!

Seriously, that's a sad sight... I know it's nature in action, but I'd want to help.

Hmm... could find someone else with a second tag too...

I always hunt with my brother, so they would be breakfast steaks. Then I would have them mounted locked up.
I can see my wifes face now

One would have to die, maybe then the other could live!!!

I think those are the 2 that the land owner let die & then let Fish & Game come on his land to remove them. He would not let them help until they were dead.

Call F&G, trank 1, kill 1 for dinner, shoot the other the next year. I know its the law of the land that sometimes they die, but the nice thing about being human is being able to make rational decisions about how to manage game. Personally, a motorcycle helmet and football pads, I would try to unlock them if no one had a tag...but then again, I am a but nuts........

A couple of really nice bulls that need to stay in the gene pool. What state and where did this happen. I'd try something with a couple ropes and maybe a winch.
The only problem would be causing them to drown. Or me getting seriously poked.

the problem with tranquing them is if someone shot and ate them within a certain amount of time, not sure what it is, the person could die, same reason they kill bears during hunting season instead of tranquing and relocating.

sad sight, but that is nature, although I would probably see what could be done

If I had a semi-auto like a .30 carbine, I would just shoot the antlers that are jamming/locked & that would break off & free the animals. That would change of course if I had a tag or if I found someone with a tag. I used to shoot the fruit stems from our backyard fruit with a pellet gun & that saved from climbing up the tree to pick the fruit or was more fun than using the fruitpicker. Yes I could hit those antlers with a semi-auto & liberate those poor elk. God Bless. larrysogla.

The left trez tine on the left bull seems to be key to unlocking those bulls, a bullet to knock that tine off and both bulls would most likely survive.

I wouldn't want to try and eat any meat from those bulls, they're obviously exhausted, and have had large amounts of adrenaline pumping thru them while fighting. Would be some very rank, tough meat in my opinion!

I just saw a series of photos of two big mule deer bucks locked together here in Oregon. They were in a road, and the 4pt typical was already dead. The people who found them shot a front fork off the dead bucks antlers and freed the live non-typical buck, but the live buck still proceeded to gore and push the dead buck up against their pickup before leaving.

Just throw a blanket over their eyes to calm them down. Lead them to dry ground. Cut the horns free. Jump on the back of one. Pull the blanket off and hang on. Would be an awesome adrenaline rush!

What a maggot Bud Butthole belke is . Sure hope some disgruntled elk lovers don't start cutting his fences or poisining his cattle I wouldn't be able to sleep if that happened. Would be too bad if cattle buyers told him to go somewhere else to sell his cattle . Hope the scumbag gets what he deserves. Woulldn't it be great if he ended up handcuffed to a burning car and was handed a wood saw......

Piker......I just remembered I'd posted these photos a couple weeks ago and wanted to see if anyone had any info on em.....They had been sent to me without a story from a friend in Littleton, Colorado. Thanks Bullbuster for posting the video that explains it all.

Seeing those bulls locked up like that is extremely sad, but the story behind it (the rancher not allowing Wildlife officials to rescue the bulls) is sickening. No doubt Elk tear up fences throughout the west, they're notorious for that I know in central Utah. But to let them die that way when you know you could've done something is just sick and a total waste.

We've got so many laws on the books that it's almost hard to believe that they couldn't get a Federal judge to intervene using emminent domain law, since the elk are the property of people of the states, as is their welfare, and the rancher either cooperate in the rescue or be jailed. Sad deal indeed......

The concerned people all have to do is to alert the internet animal rights lovers/wackos regarding the intransigent attitude of the rancher & the plight of the elk & then a whole bunch of animal huggers will converge & will sneak up at night, trespass(when were they ever deterred by trespassing laws??) & saw off the offending antlers & voila, problem solved. The problem is nobody alerted these group of people. You could use a tree limb saw with an extension pole so as to stay away from those sharp, deadly antler points. This is one area we have to concede to the animal rights activists. They will free those elk even at the risk of trespassing. May the Good Lord bless & prosper your New Year. larrysogla.
