Well I finally got my first pig, then I got my second.
Here's the story:
I was up on some private land near Parkfield, CA. I had missed my first shot in the morning, the pigs were on to us, even though we were 500 yards out. I figured my chances were over for the weekend, since we couldn't get up on those ones in the morning. Then in the afternoon, we went back out to start glassing canyons at about 230-300. We started glassing, and all i could hear was branches snapping and snorting, at the bottom of the canyon was about 12-15 pigs, a bunch of sow's and some larger pigletts. I still couldn't get too close to them, since there was no cover to hike down to them, so i took my shot at 250-260 yards out. One shot, one kill. I picked up a nice meat sow, 150 lbs. Then as we were heading back to camp, across a canyon, we saw a nice boar. So we coasted down the canyon road with the engine off, once we got to the bottom, we piled out and put a nice stalk on the boar. it went up over the ridge, so we took an angle, caught up to him and caught him about 15 yards away. Put him down, a 260 lb. blonde boar. So by 430-500 o'clock, I had my two pigs for the weekend, and enough time to drive home and catch the super bowl. Here are the pics.
