Lol, you got that right!

So me and my buddy got to the ranch yesterday about noon. We got camp set up, sat around the camp for a while, then headed out about 5:00pm. We hiked some areas where I have seen sign, and checked some water holes. We seen tons of rooting, but the water holes didn't look like they were being hit, at least not these ones. We came back in just after dark with no luck. It actually rained a little last night, so we got up about 5:00am this morning and started driving to an area I wanted to hunt. On the way there, I stopped to glass a pasture where the hogs like to hang out, didn't see anything. Started driving a little further, then all of a sudden from the tall grass, a hog is hauling but directly away from us. We jump out and I sent one his way just as he was going down a hill, it sounded like a hit but wasn't. The hog went out of sight, then I guess made a sharp left and started heading back into view. He ran out, stopped broadside, and my buddy dropped him in his tracks at 330 yards. Then all of a sudden, 4 more hogs appeared out of no where, running right towards the hog that my buddy just shot. They all got to him, then stopped, hahaha big mistake! I dropped one of them where he stood, perfect shot right through the upper part of the heart, 330 yards! Both hogs were literally 5 feet from each other. Man, this was an exciting hunt and was really cool cause this was my buddies first hog, he was stoked to say the least.

My hog was about 125# and my buddies was pushing the 200# mark. Great hogs and a great time!

Congrats Mel and I thought you let your buddy shoot the bigger one, now I see that you just happened to miss and he got to play cleanup. Glad you guys got into them. You were in the exact location that I saw after dark with the full moon. You can see the Hyatt in the picture of your buddies hog. I'll be at it this weekend with the bow on a different ranch. Good luck and go get some more.

Man you guys only hunted the lower flat part of the property on the camp#1 side. I bet there are more hogs up top in the canyon I called "Pig Canyon". The rancher told me there are 30 ponds on that property but I only found 22 of them. Most dried out and a couple holds water year round.

We hunted the ridges north of the camp area monday evening and we're going to hunt the canyon area on Tuesday morning. On our way back there we checked out the pastures, obviously we never made it back to the canyons :) I had a bad experience on that road going back to the canyon.

This ranch is off hwy 20 out of Williams. Cache creek is off hwy 20 just maybe 20 miles further up hwy 20. Hard hunt but has hogs.

Is Cache Creek public land? Or can I get permission from the property owner to trespass on his ranch? Is he hog hunter friendly? Do I need four wheel drive? Thx!

Yeah that road up from the flat is a bit scary. During the El Nino rain I found a Dodge Ram sanked in the mud off the side of the hill with a rope tied to a tree. I just wish the club could just make the short one-way road a two-way. That would be a short climb to the top. I think the road to the top from camp #2 is a better road.

Cache creek is all public land.

L2H, I almost rolled my truck last year, major pucker factor for sure. Scared me so much I really think twice before I 4 wheel.

This ranch was Mosby
