JHO POR - Is Awesome!!! I already told the wifey I was going to go to 2006 (Still watch my 2004 video now and then) I was really looking forward to going this year, alas, I will be out of the country that week... DANG IT!!!

If you've never been to TEJON, you won't find a better group of guys (JHO) to hunt with, or a BIGGER, water-filled, acorn over-run, area to hunt anywhere in California!

Have fun - bring a RANGE FINDER - Those hills are WIDER than they appear!

Superduty,

My shop is about two miles from Parnell Park and I've got a BIG standup freezer that's only got a few packs of wahoo left in it. As a fellow JHO'r, I'd be happy to lend you the storage rights to my freezer. I'll even keep track of how many roasts are left and notify you immediately if any are missing.

I just don't have the extra room in the deep freeze for the meat.
I will be happy to take it off your hands, as soon as it's dragged up the canyon! It will go to a good home!

Phil, you got my request in e-mail for a packet right? Just making sure. I have yet to make one of these events so I am looking forward to it.

Steve... I don't have you on my list, and don't see an email. Maybe my dang spam blocker got over-enthusiastic again (it's bad for that...I hate it, but it's a necessary evil). Anyway, if you could resend your info, it'd be awesome to have you join us.

Hey Dave, you have several months to eat enough room for a l'il ol' Tejon hawg in that freezer. Just remember not to shoot a monster like last time!

OZ... you gonna make it this year?

Welcome to the new guys, and I received your emails. You've been added and should be receiving packets via USPS soon.

Hronk, I got your email for sure, and have you on the list.

I meant to send out a new batch on Friday, but got wrapped up in other business and next thing I knew I was in the duck marsh... go figure?

Apps on the way tomorrow's post.

We now have over 50 application requests (the hunter limit for this trip is 50), but only 2 paid so far. I'm still accepting apps, of course, but those who've already requested be aware.

Remember, being on the list doesn't reserve a spot. Only a properly completed application, with checks sent to the right places, completed tags, etc. will get you a spot.

Hey Rich,

I reread your email and your initial post... you may be a little confused (or maybe I am). The JHO Hunt is in May. It's not the same as the Feb hunt at Tejon.

I do have a different application packet, and the instructions for completion are a bit different as well. If you're interested in the May hunt, I'll be glad to send a packet. But if you're looking for the February trip, you'll definitely want to go ahead and book a spot on the North side.

And of course, there's no reason you can't do both.

Speck, yea........ dang it I was confused...... I do plan on hunting the May hunt as well so go ahead and send the packet.

Now I am all worried because i was hoping to hunt with guys who could at least point me in the right direction and now I have to hunt the North side and I have yet to hear anything good about it.

Can anyone recommend a area to hunt on the North side? I have GPS and can plot if coordinates are given but map or verbal directions will be just as good.

If anyone is hunting this first hunt and is on the North side and knows the area please let me know.

Thanks again.

The North Side has a great reputation, and several JHOers have hunted there. You should be able to get some decent intel.

The only reason the JHO hunt is always on the South Side is because it seems to be the area most of us are familiar with...

and some of us have honey holes there.

Would there happen to be anyone out there that wouldn't mind taking a Michigander by the hand and helping him get his first hog? I talked to the wife about letting me make this trip and she had no problem with it. I figure this would be my reward for five months smoke free

I found air fare out of bakersfield for around $200. Not sure if that would be the best bet or not. Any input on the logistics of this whole thing as far what I would need to bring, etc would be great.

EA, I'm going to be there and probably won't be hunting too hard. I'm willing to help some of the new guys out as best as I can. Better stay away from those cancer sticks, because the canyons on Tejon are hell even with good lungs.
