JTA4698 posted a link to the proposed zones, and I think the following is the overall proposals up for public comment.

Here's one section in the F&G site that shows some proposed new hunts, etc. Long, but some decent reading.......

http://www.fgc.ca.gov/regulations/new/2010/364isor.pdf

Here's one section......

"
Establish new hunts: Whitney tule elk, Tinemaha Mountain tule elk,
Mendocino tule elk, Lake Pillsbury tule elk, Bear Valley tule elk, Alameda
tule elk, and Santa Clara tule elk."

"
Establish new hunts for Fort Hunter Liggett tule elk. There is demand for
alternative weapon hunts for tule elk. Currently the Owens Valley is the
only area that has muzzleloader hunts for tule elk. The proposal
establishes a new hunt for muzzleloader only. Bull (range 0-6) tags would
be available to the public during a season beginning the first Saturday in
November and continuing for 9 consecutive days.

Establish new military hunt for Fort Hunter Liggett tule elk. The proposal
establishes a new hunt for bull tule elk. Bull tags (range 0-2) would be
available for military use during a season beginning the second Tuesday in
September and continuing for 9 consecutive days."

Does that mean that a ML tag for Elk at FHL will not be offered or these are in addition to...?

I believe the second paragraph says that it establishes a new hunt for muzzleloader only. I guess that would be above and beyond the current season.

Vermonster is correct. After exchanging a few e-mails with DFGELK, if approved, FHL will have a new muzzleloader hunt. Irons sights, no scopes.

Overall, I like the new proposals for 2010. Some new hunts, splitting some zones, some increased tag qoutas and extending the length of some hunts. Its tough to put an elk on the ground in 5 days if you've never hunted the area.

We talked to the FHL Fish and Game boys during our bull hunt, and they informed us that their elk herd is twice the size of the official count of 550 animals. They would like to see a LOT of bulls killed as they are way out of whack on the ratio. Hmmmm.
