I'm actually on both. I pay a small trespassing fee that gives me easy access to public land but most importantly a trailer to stay in with a heater and running water. The public land is accessible without much trouble pending the weather.
Congrats on the Bull
Ran into a land owner in 21 that was asking 2k for trespass fee, what's small?
$1000 and that gives me a Mobile home with running water, heater and electricity. Access to his property, but better access to the public land when the weather is ugly.
That is very reasonable..I know in Idaho you can sometimes just pay $500-$1000 for the trespass fee without accommodations...
Great job...btw, jerryt I happened to drive to Galt this past weekend to pick up my Wyoming elk rack that a friend brought back (he drove and I flew)...guy's name is Nash...you might know him
lives out off Liberty Road about 9-10miles...retired Sgt from the Sheriffs dept...Doesn't ring a bell but the town isn't very big.
A 500 yard shot is not a far shot at all for a rifle if you know how to shoot it. My two missed shots were the first shots I have ever missed an elk with and I have only shot one less than 450 yards in the last 5 years and that was a 20 yard shot. My rifle is shot nearly year around. This guy won't make my wall though because the one I shot 3 years ago was bigger and it was killed about 700 yards from this years bull.
