I drew an x9a deer tag and a Bishop Muzzle elk tag. I have hunted x9a before, the tule elk will be a new experience.

WOW, can't believe I finally drew a Ca. elk tag! Got tired of not getting a chance for elk and used my points for Lone pine cow tag (337). Also drew X1 archery tag...finally good news!!

Rick7m congrats. FHL hunts are nice. I drew a cow hunt last year. I'm in Virginia now but I have frieinds who still hunt FHL. I'll get some info on what they've seen so far. Keep in mind that you will have to sit through a familiarization brief the night before your hunt begins. The biologists and FHL staff will let you know where the elk are. If I'm not mistaken they will have certain zones open just for the elk hunters. It's nice. Area 22 is always a good area. It's at the end of the range and the elk love the area all along the creek. If you get the chance, during the fam brief, talk to the range control/safety officer, I forgot his name. He's been there for a while and knows where the elk are too. Good luck.

Hey dpot, I drew that Bishop bull hunt (rifle) in '96. Had a blast, I took a beautiful 6x8 bull, my hunting partner took the herd bull (nice bull with a three point crown on one side). Let me know if I can be of any help. You won't need much, those elk are pleety easy to find. We did spend a bunch of time scouting and got to know every bull in the herd before the hunt.

Well, got a text from a friend saying the CA draw results are online.
Checked mine and found I drew the Owens Valley Multiple Zone Tule Elk Archery Bull tag. 1 of 5. Took max points.
Last year burned my max points on deer and took a great buck on the Doyle Hunt.
Any help I can get on the owens valley hunt would be appreciated.

The search here on the forum needs 4 letters to work so you can use Google to search deer zones instead. You can direct Google to search on JHO by entering this in the Google search window "site:www.jesseshunting.com" then list your zone or keyword like D14. You can see the criteria used in the results below for D14. The whole thing would look like this "site:www.jesseshunting.com/forums d14".

I drew FHL #448 antlerless elk, which is in November. I now have to hope for acceptable weather, decent areas open and not so many restrictions on weaponry in the areas.
