I spoke with Jodi last week regarding the 2 hunts we had booked in April and May for the JHO POR group hunts. She is keeping them on the books but her words were "I would say the safest bet would be to make alternate plans" If something changes earlier than expected she will let me know and I will keep you all updated.

I hunted there this weekend and the word was that the DFG should be done with their investigation by May so it didn't sound dismal. Someone please correct me if you have better intel but from what I heard It is a disgruntled employee that reported that Tejon instructed him to kill multiple mountain lions on one depredation permit. Rather than waiting the time to re-apply for each one. It seams that this a huge hassle because they have to wait till the dang thing causes damage (which means dead cattle) then they have to document it etc. Then by that time all the evidence is gone because of coyotes, pigs, vulchers and other scavengers. So if the allegations are true I can't really say as I blame them. Then there is the fact that the charge was made by a disgruntled employee which is another issue. Could be for the same reasons that I just stated it may be pretty hard for them to have a case against the ranch unless the ex-employee knows where all the bodies are buried (so to speak) On top of all that I believe one of the only reasons they have shut the ranch down to all hunting is because they are trying to get this new home development off the ground so they are trying to appear like they are taking it seriously... That's all I know, for what it's worth.

I thought I would share thoughts on this Tejon shutdown. I think the whole thing is a complete joke. The tejon and there employees where illegally managing the mt. lions on there property. There is enough public information to support this. So there penance is to shut down hunting during spring operations. The spring hunting brings a small portion of there yearly hunting revenues. This has been told to me by the numerous employees at the ranch. I have been a spring access member for several years. The spring time hunters are generally the average every day person who cannot afford to hunt the ranch in the fall. This gave the average Joe a chance to experience the ranch at an affordable price. The illegal taking of mt. lions allegation came last spring. I had my spring access pass and was well aware of the on going investagation. The tejon hunted the lucrative fall hunts made there money and shut down the ranch in the spring when revenue loss would be a minimal. The best and most affordable time for the average Joe. I never seem surprised at corporate greed and there ability to get away with it.

just my thoughts

Anyone out there seeing any checks returned in the mail yet? I am waiting for my check, and more importantly, an unused pig tag, to be returned.
