Ladies and gentlemen,
I am pleased to announce that the Friends of Lake Sonoma will be hosting pig hunts here at Lake Sonoma again this fall starting November22 and ending March 26. Rachel Mack A.K.A. VC girl has left the park and moved up to another Corps project in Oregon, so we will be unable to do mail-inregistrations this year. We will however make passes available at the local archery shops, the marina and the visitor center. I should have the passes out to the archery shops and the marina by Friday and the VC will start selling them tomorrow. Have a look at the attached documents for more information.

There is a small SNAFU.

There is a small SNAFU.
I currently only have 100 boat passes. More are being printed by the vender, but in the mean time, we will only be selling passes at the Visitor Center until we get the print order delivered. :skeered:

Ok the printing SNAFU is fixed and the passes have been sent out to Turra’s Archery Shop in Santa Rosa and West Coast Archery in Petaluma. I have also been told that (depending on their mood) some of the volunteers at the Visitor Center are mailing passes out. (This is entirely up to them and not the parks or the FOLS policy so ask nice!)
This looks like it is going to be a good year, I jumped a sounder at the spring on “No Name” last week. Couple of big ones and some “eaters”.
Time for game cams!

Well there's been almost no rain up there for the past 2 years. About 30 ft. Lower then a few years ago. I remember when the water was all the way up to the tree lines on the bank.
Wow its weird that I won't be there to hunt anymore, about a month and it's on for piggies.
Here's some photos to give u an idea.......tra
Sorry for the extra photos and out of order using a different feature on Tapatalk and it's messing up.

Pigs? Yes, we have pigs.

On a side note, we had our first reported hiker/hunter altercation and it’s not what you might expect. Some hikers confronted one of my hunters and told him that he could not be in the park!
I’ve directed the ranger staff to post hunting informationon the traffic advisory sign at the entrance to the park and post huntinginformation on the trailhead bulletin boards explaining that you guys are performing a public service by helping us control the population and you are also funding the park operations as well as supporting the Department of Fishand Wildlife.

We will try to do a better job of informing the public of what you folks are doing. Once they understand, they usually are supportive.

I also have to put in a "plug" for the cabin at Liberty Glen n
ow that the weather has gotten nasty…err, I mean ideal for quiet stalking,
if you need a small cabin to stay in out of the weather you can make arrangements by calling Virginia (our camp host) at 707-431-1152.

Joel, if you want to add the fact that dogs must be on a leash when informing the public about hunters that would be much appreciated. I had a dog off leash run off two pigs on the opening weekend.

Thanks for doing a great service for us hunters Joel. I went up there today and the first thing I noticed was the huge sign informing anyone driving by about the hunt.
