Haven't personally used that caliber on javalinas but I think you'll be fine. They are not that big. Don't know how the 6mm compares to the .243 but my buddy dropped one dead in his tracks on a full run at 100 yards with the 6mm.
Well, you can legally hunt them them with a .22 mag in AZ. They are tough, but they are only 40-60lbs usually and thin skinned. They are not any bigger than a large coyote.
I would feel comfortable shooting one with just about any centerfire rifle. Even a .204 Ruger.
I would love to see the carnage if you shot your javi w/a 90/100 grain vmax or hollow point!!! High splat-factor!!!
The 243 is is plenty fast. The WSM faster.
Good luck.
How about the 25wsm? Does anyone know how big of a gap there is between the 243wsm and the 25wsm? What i'm doing is try to find a medium caliber rifle. I have a 30-30, 300wsm, .22, and a .17hrm. I want a caliber between there. Is the 25wsm comparable to the 25-06? Thnkx again.
I've killed countless deer, bear, antelope, pigs, varmints, etc. with my 25-06. I've never had a problem with loosing animals... You just need to shoot a quality bullet. I believe the 25 wsm is slightly more powerful than the 25-06... either would be an excellent medium caliber choice.
