Rancho, is it just me, or if there was an over population of pigs in California wouldn't they ease up the rules, make the tags cheaper, etc. I am not very knowledgeable about the subject so I wonder why In Texas they can trap them at will, but California has a lot of restrictions.

It wasn't too many years ago that hog tags didn't even exist. You just killed them like coyotes. Then it was the book of 5 for about $1 each and now it's $16 a tag. If the population keeps growing, at this rate they'll be protected in a couple more years.

Open season year round, no limit on take. That's the most liberal rules for game animals in the state. And $16 a tag is still plenty cheap...How many you gonna shoot?

Without a doubt, the population is exploding here in California. I'm thinking of planting Barley in my front yard.

My brother has a friend who shoots them off the Golf Course in Coyote just north of Morgan Hill. Guess they're tearing up the place.

Just under 50 this year.

Sport hunting for personal consumption?

If it's for depredation, out here it's pretty much a rubber stamp process, and then the gloves can come off in regards to trapping them and night hunting.

Do I need to be your brother's brother to join him in this?

I was across the freeway at the rifle range one day that it was closed. My friend and I were looking over the bridge into the creek for deer tracks in the mud. There's a few around...

So anyway just up the hill the deer jump out of the brush and ran off. I didn't think we were that close/loud. Then we saw the BIG PIG in the brush.

To get to the golf course they'd have to cross hiway 101. Interesting thought...

Dave, how do you know the pig did not cross the road to get to where you say it.No road or regular fence will stop them,a few of them will get rolled but the'll keep coming. There Communists! Upper

They have these nice tunnels there for them to use.

The carts also use them during the day...

I bet that golf course could double their membership if the green fees included a golf cart and a 30-06.;Before 8Am. And the afternoon crowd would be heavy.Just would have to make sure everyboby signed their card
