Fantastic article on .357 mag in a rifle vs. pistol….then compared to 30-30.
.357 mag in a rifle is about 600 fps or more faster and several hundred ft/lbs more powerful than a pistol.
Hot loads in a .357 rifle are in fact comparable to mid power 30-30 loads.
The old timers were onto something when they carried both a pistol and rifle chambered in the same cartridge.
