This is a picture of the Shed Antlers found yesterday of the bull that everyone was looking for in the Northeastern California Elk Hunts and Southeastern Oregon Elk Hunts. He has lived to give those lucky enough to Draw another chance.

So what did it score BigSurArcher? We based the score on this one being 48" wide.

48 is fairly wide. I estimated 42" on the ones I found to come up with a score of 402". Thats not including the roughly 6-8" of broken stuff.

Your bull has incredibly long main beams and some nice mass. The extra points are nice too.

Very Nice. The Hayes family lives in Alturas so they follow the Elk around all year and the big bucks. They typically when the Buck Contest up there every year put our group beat them out one year because we were able to bring in a 21 point monster from the X3B that beat them that year.

I asked my Dad about this (has friends in Tule Lake) and some guys who got drawn from Tule have shot some big bulls.

Elk during the rut with a rifle... mmmmmmmmmmmm :)

The last few years the Archery Hunt has been too early. The rifle hunt is a lot better because the bulls seem to be bugling. If i ever get a tag up there I am sure it will be the exact opposite of what tag I have.

Last year a local guy had that bull at 100 yards standing broadside and missed with 2 shots. He said there was nothing to blame for the miss other than buck fever.

I had heard that the biologist said that these horns were not from "the big one" that they have seen on this zone. Friend of mine drew the rifle tag this year so we are going to be hunting these monsters.

Was this bull killed in 2012? I have a tag for 2013 and was curious if there was a chance for a bull of this caliber.
