You have gotten some sound advice here. The price is not bad on the GP so buy it but get a 44 anyway when you can. Someone mentioned getting a 4 5/8 barrel 44. While they are a great gun in a tight spot, the shorties are much harder to shoot if not accustom to them, I am assuming you are not a pistolero or you would already have them. Most of them I have had have been sent back to Ruger for higher front blade to be installed just to keep them on the paper. They have a fair amount of muzzle jump with heavy loads and will give a novice a flinch they will never shake. I have had the 4 5/8" on up and use the 7 1/2 Blackhawk Hunter for hunting, pushing 300gr XTP's with 21grn H110, Itll make em stumble if you are in a tight spot and pop them with a quick couple of rounds. Recently shot that .480 . Might have to sell the SSRH .44mag and turn it over into the 480. Sweet round. Light enough to keep shooting it and enjoy it, but a lot more punch than the 44. Decisions, decisions.
