I think my stories of absolutely no luck at Tejon were more interesting than this original post of mucho success.

Wednesday night got home from work and a buddy called and wanted to go fishing, I say you wanta go shooten? He says hell ya. So he loaded up the wife and I loaded up the wife and kid for a varmint hunt. We get to the gate going into our property and wam there’s a mama (500+) and 20 or 30 baby’s with two small boars (200). So I get out and try to follow them but it did not work when I went up the road a ways into a brushy spot I had hogs on both sides of the road. Could have taken a shoot but not a good one. I go up to a open spot and wait for about 2 min. and here comes a nice boar (140) in the open about 50 yards. I shoot and miss. O ya not my gun my buddies I only have a bow. So the hog runs into the brush but the others don’t leave (about 100 hogs). So I get in the truck and tell him that we will check on the way out. We drive up the road a ways and I tell him lets walk into a small water hole on the other side of the hill, so we did. As we walk up to the hole with the wind in our face we could see a nice hog (220) asleep in a wallow. I think he is dead but not sure. We make our way to the edge of the hole (15 yards) and not wanting to shot him in the mud I snort and he stands up he then turns around and looks me in the eye and trots off to my right and I shoot in the right side behind the shoulder and out the lower left chest.

Pig down.

Stay tuned for the next two days of hunting……..

"mama (500+)"

Come on, I want a hunting story not a fish tale.

My story is day two of the event! Went out on an evening hunt on his family ranch. We both had Bow's and were hunting the same half of the ranch that he had shot the 220 on the first trip. We had already walked several miles, stopping to glass what seemed like way to often. We came into a clearing that allowed us to look over a couple of open spur ridges. Didn't take long to spot a small group of about 10 hogs working one of the ridges at about 200 yds. We formulated a game plan to get the wind to work for us and started the stalk! We had moved within 50 yds. The grass they were in was about 15" tall so I knew I could get closer. I dropped my pack and started to belly crawl. I poked my head up with the range finder at 39 yds bellied down again closer, closer, closer stuck my head up and HOLY CRAP I'M CLOSE, 23 yds broadside. So I knocked and arrow told myself to take a deep breath, settle my pin, release, I came to my knees nearly at full draw took that breath, settled my pin, released. She jumped! drilled her

and she just spun in circles, knocked up another with her facing me, settled the pin low on her throat, hit, she squeeled then fell not ten yards from the first shot!!!!!

First bow kill ever

Put her on the hook at 172lbs.

Awesome first kill. Congrats. One question though, is that your blood on your right shoulder? Blood and torn clothes?
