Those signs that say ELK CROSSING ...mean it. I don't drive over 35 after dark .. The antelope love to run out.

It was a relative of one of the members of the Compton Hunting and Fishing Club driving the car. We're all glad the driver sustained only minor injuries. Too often, an elk will come right through the windshield when it gets hit.

That's crazy. A lot of times its hard to fathom how big those animals are and how unpredictable they are when close to the road.

Weird how they can spook so easily when you're out in the middle of nowhere, but conversely can be so nonchalant on the side of the road.

I don't know in AZ but here in CA, you can not just pick up and eat those animals (road kills), is against the law...what a waste...

Happy to hear no human got hurt...sorry for the elk tough

I think they said that they were able to keep the meat. The driver didn't take any, but I believe that some other locals did after F&G and the traffic cops were done with the scene.

Last year I was hunting up there at night as we come out you would see a sign that said" ELK crossing" it had flashing lights on it and they would start flashing if the elk was near the road, we had several nights as we was driving down that area of road the lights would start flashing.

5 Elk thats crazy and one lucky driver.
I had a shipment for work that hit one cow Elk in CO and the semi was torn up so badly that they had to get another truck and driver to complete the drive.

Driver was lucky, especially hitting seven elk, WA state just had a deputy killed after he hit an elk while responding to a call.
