My wife and I booked a 10 1/2 pig hunt with Tom in late June/ early July. Our first weekend was a full moon weekend and we saw no pigs. Tom was not happy and told us not to hunt on Sunday and add that day to our last weekend. Problem solved.
HE suggested we look at a calender and check to make sure we were not hunting on full moon weekends for the rest of our hunts. Well, we were. So he offered to switch weekends. Problem solved. Then we decided to upgrade to the deer offer and HE suggested we go back to our original dates for the deer hunting. Problem solved.
We also hunted this weekend with Orso and Bighorn. The fog was horrible. Tom walked us in each morning, sat with us, froze with us and then helped us glass when the fog broke. This was a SELF guided hunt. He went above and beyond the call of duty to help us find deer.
We saw plenty of game this weekend, pigs, coyotes, deer, rabbits, squirrels and such. We were unable to harvest a buck this weekend. That is part of hunting.
If anyone is headed up there to hunt, pack in warm clothes, water resistant clothing is a must, the fog was so thick it was almost like a light drizzle. Everything was soaked after only a couple hours of hunting. Scope caps are a must.
I just wanted to post my personal experiances with everyone. Tom has been nothing short of great. Always on time, has hot coffee, energetic and wants his clients to score.

My insights are simple. What is going on between Batch and Pigguide is between them and none of my business.

My experience with Tom has been great. He has done more than I would expect for a self guided hunt including accompanying Orso and me on two "self guided" hunts. I haven't found anything about this deal that he didn't disclose up front.

The game is there. I've seen and heard both pigs and deer. It's just a matter of getting close enough for a shot. I paid for the 10.5 day hunt and am spreading it out over the next couple of months. Tom let me pay extra for a shot at a buck. I'm just grateful that I get to go back several more times.

I have nothing to complalin about except that halitosis problem.

I add my comments to this thread reluctantly... Isn't this the Hog and Javeina Hunting Forum??? This isn't the Guiding Service Forum. I come to the Hog forum to talk about Hog hunting and hog killin'.

I've never been burned by a guide or outfitter as of yet and so I don't know how I would deal with it "online" as it is being delt here. I know I would have man to man phone calls/conversations/emails directly with the person involved and I wouldn't stop until I was reasonably satisfied with the outcome. I think (and I say think because it hasn't happened yet) that if a thread came up about a guide I was completely unhappy with and I saw people were discussing about possibly taking the hunt, I think I would simply post a reply that said I had a bad dealing with that individual and would tell anyone who wanted to know my experience to email me and I would tell my side of the tale.

I signed up for the 10 day hunt also. Tom has lived up to every commitment so far and has gone far beyond what I expected. He did in fact go in to the field with Dave and myself twice. He has met us on time everytime and one morning (after asking me the night before if I wanted breakfast) brought me a breakfast burrito. When I went to give him a few bucks for it, he said "I asked if you wanted breakfast, not if you wanted me to pick it up for you" and he wouldn't take my money.

Pease forgive me for what I am about to say... Remember I love this site.

If Tom did say he would reimburse a day of hunting then he should live up to that commitment. And maybe that would put an end to this thread once and for all.

Tom booking as many hunts in before he loses his lease is really no concern of anyones as long as het gets the hunt completed as promised prior to losing the lease.

I am sure there are many things about this situation I don't know about and won't know about but Spectr17 how do you go from leaving a message on Saturday night for Tom, to reccommending the hunters sue on Monday morning?

I know nothing about this situation and should probably keep my mouth shut, but one thing really bothers me. Over the years we have seen more and more lands closed to hunting and fishing by private land owners. Yes, a lot of this is because they can make more $$$ by leasing it out. But another reason is because of liability issues and the threat of law suits. Then the owner of this site jumps in the middle of an issue that really is none of his business and reccomends unhappy hunters to sue the guide. Jesse, what the hell were you thinking? Weren't you taking sides a little prematurely? I think that you owe an on line appology to everyone here unless you really feel that suits are the way to settle

WOW!!!.......this looks like a WWE Smackdown match that started out with two wrestlers in the ring........then out no where all the other wrestlers showed up one after another. We have a ring full of wrestlers taking on each other. Usually back in the old days Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant were the last two left in the ring. I always bet for Hulk Hogan as the winner back then. In this situation it'll be Pig Guide, Spectr17, and Batch left in the ring. Everybody else have tapped out. I'm betting $20 on Pig Guide. If you re-read all the posts you will see that most people are supportive of you. I have had nothing but good dealings with Tom. He is a man of his word. I don't see why some people are so apt to jump on a bandwagon and say nasty things about someone when they themselves had not had a negative experience. Tom, you are too patient. The hunter got a pig. If you tried to reschedule and THEY don't want to, you shouldn't offer a refund. How anyone can complain after bagging an animal shows the person would complain over anything. As to how many hunts you booked, you listed all the hunt dates. How can anyone say after you booked a hunt with me, you shouldn't have leased it out the other weekends that I didn't book? As for being sued, that's riduculous. You have more legal basis to sue for libel than someone who didn't want to rebook. I think some people must have mistaken the self-guided, low priced hunt you offered with a fully guided guaranteed kill type of hunt. I've been on several self guided hunts and not seen one animal. My buddy goes the next weekend to the same ranch and there are animals everywhere. That's why it's called hunting. It sounds like some people would rather go on a canned hunt. Tom, don't give up on this website just because of a few ignorant sour-pusses. Jesse, I second that you owe Tom an apology online. You went on a free hunt, had nothing but good things to say, then you are saying bad things about Tom when you weren't even there or didn't even hear what he said. Tom, if you did offer a refund, don't give it. He doesn't deserve it and he should pay you for deliberately trying to defame your character, which is the legal definition for slander and libel, I believe.

Since when is voicing displeasure slander. As a matter of fact, he didin't complain in his post abuot the service other than not geting what he was promised, refund. I heard from other postings on claims about being a man of his word. Thats all I see being challenged here.

I don't know either of them, so I can' pass judgement based on that, but it would appear that suspicion and doubt could have been avoided if PG was'nt so fast to jump to conclusions. Take a look at all the other threads and how PG's demeanor and rantings were in responding to them. Seems a short fuse is not good to have in ths kind of business when dealing with clients of all makes and sizes.

Let them take this offline. Hope it all works out for everyone.
