Hey guys
My buddy and I went up to Burns Or this last weekend to scout for our up coming hunt. I put nearly 1000 miles on the old green ford (most of the miles where highway miles just getting there) this is the first time we have been up in that neck of the woods…… its awesome country! We didn’t get out and walk a bunch mainly because we just wanted to get familiar with the roads. But we did manage to run across this guy. (Sorry the picture does not do him justice) but what is important here is….Look at the shot window we had! At only 80 yards I think anyone could have put this guy on the ground! I can tell you if I can put this guy on the ground in October you guys will get al lot more pictures and he would eventually end up on my wall. He looked to be a for sure 5x5 but I think I could put 6 points on one side. He didn’t hang around too long, his cows where working their way up the hill so he followed. But there was defiantly enough time to squeeze on off at this guy!

Nice. If you haven't seen anything toward the end of your hunt think about trying the open sage areas. A lot of the elk will leave the woods once the shooting starts and go there, or to the ranches where the alfalfa is.
