Went hiking up near Flagstaff last weekend and saw these guys hanging out on the side of the road just outside of town. Thought I would share.

Awesome share and even more awesome photos. I'm itching for the season up here in Oregon to come around.

I saw a few nice ones in 18A last week in one of the area's few watering holes. Been a dry year for AZ eh? One of the elk was a 10 pointer! Passed us at 24 yards.

I spent the weekend in Alpine and saw some great bulls. I also saw some good bulls in Springerville and a few nice bucks as well.

You got that right Jesse it was a stop and "stare" - How are you doing ? - Flagstaff was great. A little warm as Flagstaff goes that day but much cooler than Phoenix and I will take that any day. We went up to hike Kendricks Peak in preparation for our Humphrey's climb and saw these bulls as we were coming back into Flag for dinner. There was a lot of elk sign on the trail, the higher we went up the mountain the more we saw. At 10,200 feet there is an old cabin that still stands in a small meadow. There are elk beds all around it and the smell of elk is thick in the air up there. We never saw any at that elevation, but the sign was all over. They must bail out at the sound of the first hikers coming up the trail in the mornings. It was much cooler at that elevation, so I imagine they are escaping the heat up there.

Nice pics, pretty country.

The company I work for bought another company, that is in Gilbert, AZ. Next time I'm out there, maybe I can buy you a cold one.
