hello to every1 it has been quite a long time since my last post. ive still been fillling the freezer but have just been way to consumed with everything else to post. i have been busting my but getting my pack together. and wouldnt ya know it just the other week i was just fitting my #1 dog, al ''mr.d'' davis with his new vest. it couldnt have fit better. when i let him out to relieve himself he leaped the 4' fence and disapeared into the darkness.not knowing excactly what was going on i just grabed a leash and went in the direction i last saw him. after about 20 min or so of calling and waiting and calling and waiting, never once did he make a sound he came back with a ear to ear grin and wag'n his tail like he just had the time of his life.when i picked him up to get a look at him he yelped. i knew he must have goten thrashed a bit. so i took his vest off and gave it to my bro in law matt. i cleaned him up good and tended his wounds. when matt came back he looked as if he saw a ghost. he held up the vest and it was wrecked. mor holes than i could count. most of them on the belly area. it turned out that the wounds he suffered that evening proved to be fatal. i didnt just loose my best dog but i lost my best friend and my childrens companion. what sucks more is that ive got pups from him and a litter on the way and he was going to be retired in a few months.
so i gave it about a week and decided it was time for revenge. so with the dogs laoded up we headed to the backside of my place and kicked out two of my catahoulas, buddie and duke. with light fading we figured we would call it and head back to the truck. no sooner did we start the haul back then............ shhhhhhhhh........ i hear a bark , then another. lets move boys they got 1!!!!!!!! as we headen around the bend i look up about a hundred yards and saw the brush rumblin. as i approched the brush i could hear the boar popping his teeth right next to me. i just couldnt see him. after a few seconds he tried to break and busted out of the bottom of the brush with two dogs on his heals. as he turned to fight duke dove it on him and came up with a mouth full of hog. this is the first tim he has grabed on his own w/out mr. d. they grew up together and this was his only time out with out him. after getting tossed a bit and cut real nice on his chest the hog shook him and started spinning circles with buddie going light speed around him. as he turned to run and got closer BANG!!!!!!!! 12ga slug to the forehead from 5yrds, game over. my dogs exceeded my expectations once again. this is why i have pretty much put my bow and rifle down for the most part. there is nothing that compares to coming up on a bay with your own dogs that you have trained since pups, or anyones dogs for that matter nothing even holds a candle. well thats one down and many more to go! im headed out tommorow and saturday. R.I.P. Mr. D this ones for you!
