I am sure it is a good sign to go pig hunting.
Has anyone been out? Did you see anything interesting?
I went out a few times, I saw some old sign, somewhat fresh sign. I have not seen any :hog chewing: yet. Still looking.
However my corolla does not do shit after I get off the cement road.

P.S. I learned real quick how to unlock myself from getting stuck. I thought I was in a deep shit, I am glad the corolla is light only spent 30 minutes pushing it out of the hole. :rotflmao:

Hey Tech
Went out this past weekend public land and tracked a hog for 2 hours up and down hills and put in about 5 miles according to my iPhone. LOL. Finally found fresh rooting and continue to follow the tracks and ended up down in a canyon and all of sudden this huge black hog about 300 lbs from what i guess gets up and was bedded down under a tree and starts to run up the hill and i was using my shotgun slug gun and fired 4 shots and hit him and thought i had a downed hog but he kept running and over the hill. Scared the crap of me when i ran up to him under the tree and i have to admit i got pig fever and did not do a good job of placing the right shot. I tracked up the hill and down the hill and it crossed the road into a area that was closed to hunting. Crap, I was so bummed and will have nightmares for many nights.

How many of you have had the moment like this and then play it back in your head and you say should’ve, would’ve could’ve????? If hope to get another chance this weekend and hope i do a better job in controlling my excitement.

I did this past weekend! Argh! But i have to say it was the best hunt with the tracking and finding it and getting the shot. Just cant show any pic of the dead hog! Stinks!

My first shot on a coyote was sorta like that! He barrel-rolled mid-air... front legs tucked up under him T-Rex/Praying Mantis style...he falls to the ground. He's on the ground sorta rocking back-and-forth for a bit... then after some number of seconds... I'm thinking heck yeah!!! I just got my first 'yote!!.... and the freakin' thing gets back up!?...turns and looks at me... then runs off!!

Blood trailed him 250yds+ down into and back out of a Ravine before the blood-trail just couldn't be found any more.

I learned that day.... if you hit a coyote... you hit him AGAIN!

Holy hell. I would probably could not keep the crosshair still when I see my first pig, let alone a big 300lb.

Sorry you lost the beast. A revenge is sweet for sure.

I hunted hard 4 days in a row in public land in Fresno county with my brother who joined me from Texas in very cold weather. With snow and rain all 4 days I came across one group of pigs in the morning but I couldn't connect and then about 4 to 5 pigs crossed the road while I was driving down the mountain while it was dark. They crossed the road and were such a tease at about 20 yards not even rushing or scared from my vehicle. Never thought I would be looking for pigs in snow.

Hey 7mag-
I hear ya, they love to tease us for sure. Sounds like a great day of hunting for 4 days. Next time for sure.
