Ok, My buddy already posted a picture of it but here are a few more pic's and a little story. For starters I need to say that I spend a lot of money at Cabelas and have all the scent lock clothing, boots, etc. So, driving into our ranch around 7:00 pm I spotted a group of what I originally thought was a herd of Angus cows and we stopped and used our specs and they were piggies. I was wearing my wranglers and nike's ( no scentlok, no camo, no face paint) We made a long stalk on a dirt road and I stalked up to about 18 yards of the herd. There was about 20 pigs there. I was at full draw for about 45 seconds as I waited for the boar I wanted to clear himself of the other pigs. He turned broadside to me and I watched my Lumenok fly with an expandable tip. It stuck him at what my friend I thought was too far back but right where I meant to hit. The whole broadside thing just made the arrow look wierd. It penetrated almost all of the way only leaving a couple of inches sticking out. It was a perfect shot. He only ran about 15-20 yards and expired asap. After a long night of cleaning and skinning we did a morning hunt and then took him into Santa Rosa to a butcher. I owe my buddy David for knowing our ranch and putting me on the pigs. The next day we stalked pigs all day for fun. We got 6 feet away from a few of them. It was kind of freaky but I learned a lot about pig hunting.

WOW... thats one HOG of a hog....
Goes to show ya that all the 'modern miracles' of scent elimination, etc, arent exactly necessary...

Congrats

Chris,

That was a great hog and perfect shot. I couldn’t believe how torn up he was from fighting. I’m still trying to get the pus off my lantern!

You got years worth of pig hunting experience in just a couple of weekends. It was a real pleasure hunting with you this year and good luck getting an elk to put on the wall. I’ll get the other pictures posted when I get home.

BirdDawg,

I will start off with an apology since I don’t know you or your intentions. What are you trying to imply? Do you think it was a canned hunt? The pig was shot in a barn yard? It feels like you are trying to degrade the accomplishment of taking a really nice wild pig with archery tackle. It was not a guided hunt and there are no guided hunts held on the property as far as I know. It is almost a 20,000 acre ranch that has a ton of hogs on it this time of year. There would be absolutely no reason for someone to plant hogs out there. I would estimate we saw at least 150 hogs that weekend. Chris made a great stalk and perfect shot. Let's just congratulate him on that

Thanks david. The pig is certainly a wild pig. There was a lot of them out there. And yes, we got the pig drunk first and then I stalked up on him.
