Hey guys,

I was taking a trip from SF down to L.A. and I was wondering if there are any good public lands along the way down there in the A zone that you guys like to hunt for blacktail deer in. I was thinking about Los Padres??? What you think or any suggestions?

Thanks

Caviel

I've hunted it 4 days this yr. Not much to see for me. Just does and some spikes Heat and moon phase not helping either. Hunted west of the 33 N. of Ojai. Potrero Seco is a popular place but, eh. I don't really care for the pressure it gets. Good luck.

Hey guys I am having trouble deciding what tags I should buy when I go to Los Padres National Forest next weekend.. Would I be better off with a deer and hog tags or deer and bobcat tags?

Thanks,

The "official" southern border for blacktail is the northern Monterey county line. Most of the area you're talking about is CA mule deer country.

Get all of them and then you're ready for whatever you find.

Depends what you are after. If you are hunting deer I would assume you would have a 270 or so...don't think I would shoot a 20 lb bobcat with that large of a rifle. I would probably stick with the deer and pig tag. Totally depends where you go though...might not make sense to have a pig tag if there are no pigs in the area.
