Maybe some places consider it shoulder fired weapon?

It is not classified as archery equipment. They are legal to use during the firearms season, which I agree with.

I don't disagree with that either. I think it is legal in some States to use during archery?

Any one know how long they keep Glendora Mountain Road closed with fires?

Saw this guy yesterday. Didn’t make for good deer hunting.

Absolutely. If CA ever wants to seriously help the deer herds, they need to get rid of the second deer tag. One deer tag per year.

Most tag holders don't even fill a first tag, look at the success percentages for each zone. I hunt two different zones with low success rates and manage to take deer but tend to be above the average hunter. A second tag really does not have anything to do with population numbers since harvest quotas are based on overall populations within each zone. Habitat and weather conditions throughout the year has more to do with population densities, droughts and severe winter conditions. The other major factor is predator populations, primarily our overabundance of mountain lions, according to biologists take down a deer an average of every two weeks, that's about 25 a year per. In my local zone (county) which issues 2000 tags the reported success rate is about an average of 6/7% over the years, so figured with extra added of 200 deer harvested. With the low estimated population of around 30 cats in the county that's 750 deer a year. If you keep up on the lion issue, they too are having problems getting deer and broadened their diet to include humans now.

Simply put, that is not true. There are several units that have been affected by two bucks a year harvest over the years. The B zones are a prime example. Don’t fool yourself into thinking today’s F&W manage strictly for herd management……I was a warden there at one time and I can tell you that tag revenue has a major influence on ‘management’ practices. I agree, just look at D13, D11 and D15. Lowest deer populations with large allocations of tags. Doesn't make sense...except for the money part. Also, any one of the tags can hunt any of those three zones.

What I have found really strange is that D-11, D-13, and D-15 all have different tag quota's but can all be used in any one of the zones. D-11 = 5,500 tags, D-13 = 4,000 tags, and D-15 only issues 1,500 tags but could potentially have 11,000 hunters in the field if everyone bought a tag and decided to hunt D-15...How can this be? Who is in charge of this Mayhem? LOL...

Guess no one headed out that way for D11 or A31?

Definitely been out. Chasing a 4x4 for the last two weeks. Had him at 60-100 yards for 2 hours. Then a few days ago at 15 yards but he spooked on me and ran off.

Deer starting to hit the ground. now is the time to be in the stand.

I got two oaks raining down right next to each other, with sign everywhere, and I’ve seen deer there every time I’m there. That’s where I’ll be this evening.

Well, went out saw only a doe about 150 yards. Saw a ton of good habitat; water and acorns, but not many tracks, and we ended up covering a lot of ground.

Didn’t get it done but found some great spots. Chased a 4x4 for 4 weeks only to spook him in his bed at 12 yards (couldn’t see him) and he gave me a shot at 35 and 40 yards but sailed them right over the back.

Next year I’ll use a compound. Was using a longbow this year.

Also sat in a treestand for two weeks not understanding why I was getting busted. Didn’t understand the wind portion for treestand. Once I moved it had spikes under me but never a doe or legal buck.

At one of my spots I was seeing 15-20 deer a day but was after the 4x4 so I didn’t even try for them. And then once the 4x4 disappeared I was only seeing 2-3 deer a day.

Here’s some videos

My final A31 Report: I saw no deer in the four days I hunted. I saw very little tracks in areas where I saw many last year. I hunted six areas in the North Western part of the Zone.
