Last week with Christmas and all, it was tough to get away. While flatbroke and myself had to work, others did not. A friend of ours went for a hunt Tuesday morning hunt. The roads were very wet, but he could still get around alright in the flats. He started hunting at 7:00am. When he got to the foot hills, he had to stop. He put 4 of my dogs out, and started walking on foot. In a matter of minutes, the dogs headed out, up the hill side. Shortly there after he could hear barking. It sounded like just one dog. He made his way there as quick as he could. When he arrived 3 dogs had this large boar caught. The other dog was just baying. It was a good thing, they would have been tough to find with out it. He got the pig killed. The pig was a good sized boar, about 220 lbs. The impressive part was his 3" teeth. They headed back towards the truck. About half way back the dogs rolled out. They had winded another hog. Within minutes again, there was baying. It was a good hump, straight up hill, and in the thick brush. When he arrived it was a carbon copy of the first hog. Three dogs had the hog caught, and 1 was baying. Once again it was a large boar. This one had just under 3 1/4" teeth, and in the 250 lb class. It was now 8:15 am. An hour long hunt, and 2 good boars down. The collars and vest did their job. None of the dogs got cut. It was impressive for the 3 dogs to catch those two big hogs by themselves. Heck it was a Merry Christmas hunt for them all.
