I was watching some quail in my backyard when they all scattered, heres why. This is an American kestrel falcon, taken though the kitchen widow.

Nice Shot, especially taken through a window. I have never seen one those. I guess they are not native to Arkansas. Thanks for sharing

QR, nice catch!!

I've got a few redtails and red shouldered hawks that hang out by my house, but I've never had good timing to catch one close.

How much of a crop was that, if any?

Killer pic QR. Looks like a souped up sparrow.

The photo was cropped but I don't know how much, the falcon was about 35 Ft. away and I was using an 80-200 @2.8 Nikon lens that I had resting on the window sill. As a hobbyist, I have found that in wildlife photography there is a whole bunch of "outhouse" luck and being ready.

Great shot, rare moment.
When my wife and I bought our house here in Fremont CA. We had a 14" Falcon the pounded doves in our back yard 1-2 times a week. I though we had a rabid killer cat nearby. One day I came home from work and looked out the sliding door out on the back and there was this Falcon with what was left of a dove in its talon. I watched him sit there and rip strips of of it for several minutes until I was noticed. Wish i had a camera then. I must have seen that falcon a handful of times doing low fast fly-bys in the backyard.
