I do a lot of wildflower photography. I knew where a particular wildflower was and was going to photograph it. This is what I found when I got to the flower.

I'm sorry but the only thing that would work this morning was imagestation. I'll try putting up one with better resolution later.

That's a nice catch. I see butterflies around, but they won't stay still long enough for me to get a picture of them. Big animals are easier to photograph than butterflies!

That's a beauty, Ironwood - great depth of field! I guess the full name is American Painted Lady. (I used to be a butterfly nut when I was a kid.)

Annie, TN, Canuck........Glad you like the photo. It seemed the butterflies just didn't want to leave those wildflowers. There must have been something really good there.

Canuck, Actually there are two "Lady" buttterflies here in East Texas. The American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) has the orange spot with a white dot on the forewing. The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) doesn't have those spots and has black spots on the hindwing.

This fact was pointed out to me by a friend.

Ironwood, that's super information. Nothing like an educational website. I'm going to be having a real close look to see what kind we have here when they show up this year.
