I was going to submit this one but there's something about it that doesn't please me. This image is a barbed wire fence that spans a heavily used deer trail. We've all seen where deer jump fences and they leave behind a little hair (thats gotta hurt!)

because they dont jump high enough well anyway, I took this photo in macro mode, I'm thinking I needed to be closer and the lighting is all wrong here. I'm afraid that someone without any "outdoors" knowledge will have trouble determining what this picture is. Any thoughts?

I know it's difficult to see the hair here, but when I have this picture at 100% It's 2272 pixels x 1704 pixels.
Dont think jesse would tolerate that large a download!

BW-

You need more light on the fence. The focus is right and the DOF. Easier to try some flash options ( auto; fill?) than move the fence. Flash might make the hair sharp also. Think I would also try zooming in on the fence so as to have less background. Also looks like a project for post pic edit. WB

I agree with Wildbird; you've got makings of a really great picture there, you just need to figure out a way to highlight the barb wire and the deer hair. That's a neat idea for a photo!

Wolf,

Great try, but sometimes when we drop the pic down, we lose a lot of what we intended to show.

I saw one almost identical to this last year showing the deer hair up close and personal and the pic really showed true. So what I mean by that is go get another one, they are nice:)
