This public land hunting is tough, especially in Southern California - it's been six months since my last success, and although (like everyone), I've been busy - I've also been trying. I finally got three pigs on one of my trail cameras and began to pattern them. These three were unique in that they were coming out in the daylight at 6-8:00am and 4-6:00pm, whatever - better for me. Took me six and a half weeks to pattern them and finally catch up to them. There was a cinammon one I wanted to drill, but it never gave me a good shot opportunity, so this light colored one got to experience the business end of and C/E Blue Streak. Don't believe I've seen a similar light colored pig in the wild before, happy to take it out of the sounder, it's kind of ugly (hope it tastes better than it looks). It's the smallest hog I've killed (just under a 100lbs.), but on public land , in So. CA., I had to take it. In retrospect, it's probably a good thing, just in time for a whole pig roast for my hunting partners 4th of July party. Twenty yard shot, put a perfect broadhead pattern on one lung and almost sliced the other lung in two. Only went about 25 yards. 6-27-2012 DIY Public Land Pig 008.jpg 6-27-2012 DIY Public Land Pig 005.jpg 6-27-2012 DIY Public Land Pig 010.jpg

Awesome job. I've yet to get one with my bow. Looks like it'll be a great roaster, can't wait to hear how it turned out.

TRA, why the photo of pig crap next to your arrows?

For Pete's sake, at least I hope that's pig crap. :pig laughin: :toilet paper roll: :hog: :track:

Nothing could be worse than tracking some split hoove tracks and scat and then finding some insane neo-hippie coven with goat leggings dancing in a drum circle at the end of the tracking trail.

Congrats! on the nice public land meat hog wild1. :thumbs up2:

Seems a perfect size for a nice BBQ.

Thanks fellas! As an update: I have the critter marinated, along with meat (mojo) injections and on ice for a 4th of July pig roast. I'll post pictures and let ya'all know how it turned out. Best of luck on all your hunting adventures!
