hotos_2...2007_002.jpg]We have some young dogs we are trying to work once a week. You have seen them in some earlier posts. On this day we were hunting at day break, as usual. We walked the bottom of the main canyon, about a 1 mile hike, no hogs. We called Flatbroke on the radio, he stayed with the quad. He rolled up to get us and the dogs. About this time I turned and spotted some hogs higher up this draw to my left. They were movin out and had a good jump on us, plus it was up hill. We started running up the bottom of the draw. Lucky for us the hogs dropped down and crossed the canyon. When the dogs crossed the fresh sign they all got excited. But Flatbrokes dog T-Bone was the first to pick up the track. He headed up a very brushy and large hill side. Buster (a Bob Fogel bred Black mouth cur) was not too far behind. The first barking I heard was a long ways up the canyon. It took me about 20 minutes of up hill and lots of hands and knees, to get to them. Plus I think the hog broke twice, and each time the hog made it further up hill. All in all I think we ended up about a half mile from where we started the hogs. It was a great day for these young dogs, they worked very hard.
